Our Name
Levarte is composed of the Latin “levare” – to raise – and “arte” – the arts. The name stands for the guiding principle of our service: we enhance collections by working out the history of objects of art – and thus their significance in broader historical contexts – based on sound research.
The Little Owl is the symbol of Athena, Goddess of the Arts. It can see in the dark, just as we uncover illuminating information about works of art and collections for our clients.
Our Team
Together we have over 30 years of professional experience. Our networks in the Swiss museum landscape, in university research as well as in the international art trade form the basis of Levarte.
From our central location we can quickly reach all archives in Switzerland.

Lawyer and museologist with profound experience in the collection and exhibition sector of established institutions.
The interdisciplinary nature of her education takes effect in provenance research and especially in questions of restitution and the elaboration of just and fair solutions.
Dr. Daniela C. Maier
Partner
Art historian with a focus on the history of collections and applied art.
After working at the university, in the auction business and at the museum, she has well-founded research skills for clarifying questions about the history of collections and the provenance of art objects.
lic. phil. Stéphanie Schwill-Egli
Partner
Art historian specialising in Old Master, 19th century and classical modernist paintings as well as Swiss art.
Thanks to her broad network of international experts and local specialists, she advises on questions of authentication, restoration and the possible enhancement of an object through provenance research.
